Quilt Show Kaleidoscope

Quilt Show Kaleidoscope by Helle-May Cheney

I created this quilt for my local guild's annual quilt challenge.  We are hosting our 10th show at the Prallsville Mills in historic Stockton, NJ this October 5-7, 2012.  So the goal of the challenge was to create a quilt to celebrate our 10th show at the Mills.  The rules were pretty straightforward:  include "10" of something and use red and tan somewhere in the quilt as a nod the colors of the mill buildings.

Last spring I purchased Kaleidoscope Kreator 3 software from the Kaleidoscope Collections booth while attending the AQS Lancaster Quilt Show.  Their booth was so intriguing and I just knew I wanted to play!  Unfortunately it took me nearly a year to find a project that would be a great reason to use it!

So for my challenge quilt, I chose 10 photos that I had taken at our 2010 show and created 8-segment circular kaleidoscopes using the software.  It is very easy to use - the problem is making a decision as to which kaleidoscope to use!  Here are some examples:  (the software allows you to add a background behind the kaleidoscope - in this case I used red to blend with the fabric that was used to frame the Kaleidoscopes.)
